When I left Brunel…
It felt great to be finishing my studies and I was lucky enough to walk into a job I love. My plan only went as far as “get a job” and from there I would see where to go next.

At the moment…
I’m currently working as a Workplace Support Analyst for a large energy company. I look after the maintenance and administration of various aspects of IT within the company, including software and hardware deployment, access control, and VIP support.

How my career goals have changed…
I’m now looking at pursuing a team lead role within my current team and eventually hope to take on a managerial position. I am also considering moving up the technical chain into infrastructure support.

How I have developed professionally since graduating…
My technical skills and confidence in my own abilities have improved immensely since starting this job. There really is no substitute for experience in your chosen field.

How I have developed personally since graduating…
Working has given me the chance to develop socially and, particularly in this field, has continued to teach me patience and understanding.

My advice to recent graduates/students graduating soon…

Get looking at jobs early!

It’s a fierce fight as there are countless other students apply for the similar or even the same roles and sometimes being the early bird will give you the edge. It can be daunting receiving rejections but persevere with your applications and don’t just accept the first job you’re offered! Make sure it suits you and fits what you’re looking for.
