Creating partnership proposals, selling partnership opportunities on behalf of clients, and managing partnership relationships across multiple events.
Why I loved working here…
I really enjoyed working at a small agency because everything you do gets noticed. Working for a year full time at Sportcel enabled me to work on some amazing events including Steven Gerrard’s charity Golf event at Qunita Do Lago, Portugal, Ultimate Strongman World Championship at Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle and VeloBirmingham (only the third closed road cycle sportive in the UK).
My proudest achievement or experience in this role…
This would have to be leading on the commercial partnership strategy for the Ultimate Strongman World Championship 2016 at Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle. Meeting partnership sales targets and receiving outstanding feedback from event partners and TV Broadcaster.
Have I developed professionally since working here?
Absolutely. My communication and commercial awareness skills have improved markedly since undergoing a year’s placement at Sportcel.
My advice to students wanting to work in this industry/sector…
If you are given the opportunity to work within the sports marketing industry, grab the bull by its horns.
It is a fantastic environment to be in, working on some of the UK’s/Europe’s/World’s leading events and meeting some of the most renowned athletes in global sport at the age of 21 is quite surreal!
Not many people get into the industry cold, so it’s best to build a network of contacts through university and other cohorts in order to enhance your chances of getting a placement or full time role.
