Job title: Sales Worker
Type of position: Placement
Company: Orange Business Services
Degree: Business

Why I loved it:

“I loved the fact that I was seen as equal to my permanent colleagues and my opinion was just as important.”

My best experience:

“One of my best experiences was our 2 days of team-building, where my colleagues from different parts of Europe came to the UK and we attended seminars on motivation.”

What I learned:

“I have learnt that a degree alone is not enough – work experience and a degree go hand in hand!”

About my experience/Tips for students:

“A sandwich placement is definitely a great way of gaining work experience whilst within a degree. Although the process is highly competitive and can be quite daunting, when you finally gain a placement it is all worth while! Perseverance is the key. A placement not only gives you an insight into the real world of work, but it gives you a chance to see what it is like before you actually commit yourself. At Orange Business Services, I worked in the European Sales and Marketing Department managing the Sales orders for the UK and the Nordics. I assisted with tracking and maintaining order value via an internal tool and was the point of contact for those countries if there were any queries. As well as learning practical skills, I had the chance to see my theoretical skills in practice. It has most definitely been a worth while experience.”
