- Shadow defence and commercial systems engineers, software developers and project managers to gain an understanding of real world engineering projects.
- Lead a fully individual project involving investigation of novel navigation techniques.
- Develop and present new ideas.
Why I loved working here…
The list of benefits to doing a placement is huge. At Rockwell Collins I particularly enjoyed the cutting edge, exciting projects I worked on, while having the opportunity to move around the business, gaining extensive experience of a large engineering company.
My proudest achievement/experience in this role…
Developing a novel idea that built upon a current capability before presenting the innovation to senior management.
How I have developed professionally since working here…
Without a doubt, the skills that I have developed from soft, customer based communication, to hard technical knowledge and an understanding of engineering processes, will prove their worth for many years to come.
Advice I would give to students wanting to work in this industry/sector…
The most important thing to remember regardless of the industry is to believe in yourself, don’t be afraid to be radical with your ideas. Bring a fresh, new approach wherever you go and you will be noticed!
