“I was an assistant researcher at Fairplace which is a part of the Saville PLC group. As an assistant researcher I was required to assist clients in career management. My job involved different tasks. I analysed psychometric tests e.g. OPQ and MBTI using set criteria. These were then sent to consultants who fedback to clients. I also took part in researching the background of companies. This is helpful to clients who may have an interview with that company and they can therefore use the research as a source of preparation. At Fairplace, clients also had access to a web based forum which gave the clients tips and alerts of job vacancies. I contributed to this by daily posting current vacancies. Most importantly I was based in the office where clients came in to use the computers and resources to get back into their career. Fairplace is a consultancy business.”

Why I loved it “I loved my placement because I felt independent and it allowed me to get a real sense of what working life was like. I feel mature and more confident about the decisions I make.”

My best experiences “My best experiences were¬†being warmly welcomed on to the staff team and making friends with fellow colleagues who I could relate to.”

What I have learned “I learnt whilst being on placement about psychometric testing and how it can be beneficial to people looking for jobs. There are also various different types which are conducted and analysed by those on a particular level of qualification.”
