When I left Brunel…
My plan was to start working immediately, which happened straight away as I secured an offer during my final year of university.

At the moment…
I am currently working in a FMCG company in a finance graduate scheme. I have already finished my CIMA studies before starting my third year of the scheme, and am looking to be fully qualified soon. I am looking for the next opportunity, but I am also looking to start developing other ambitions outside of work, such as travel, learning new languages and achieving my fitness objectives.

How I have developed professionally since graduating…
I have found that on-the-job learning is the best for me, and challenging situations lead to significant achievements later. I am more confident in my role and don’t mind breaking the status quo if that is what’s needed to drive improvements. Presentations in front of a crowd now come easy, same as linking with different people within the company for various tasks. I have developed a network so that I am not defined professionally by my current role and company, but by my knowledge, experience, people skills and attitude.

My advice to recent graduates/students graduating soon…
Be persistent about your objectives and always keep sight of the end goal, despite the short-term obstacles. Most of the time, your choices may not be the best ones, but ultimately it’s your attitude to learning that will take you where you want to go. Companies are looking for a fresh outside “millennial” view, so don’t be afraid to be yourselves at uni, in interviews, at work or in day-to-day life.
